by the deadline.
All graduate degree seeking students at the University of Miami Miller schoolof Medicine are required to obtain adequate health insurance during their enrollment at the University. The health insurance premium is added to each student's fees. More information is available at www.miami.edu/student-health.
Students receive a credit of 80% of the Universityof Miami student health insurance premium for a single person. In order to receive this credit, you will need to select your annual coverage in the fall semester through MyUM
Health Insurance Reinstatement:
Students who waived the insurance charge in the fall semester can reinstate the insurance prior to the deadline of January 25th. You will need to complete the reinstatement form http://www6.miami.edu/student-health/Forms/studentreinstatement.pdf
and fax it to the Student Health Center(SHC) at 305-284-4905. Documentation of termination may be requested. Please do not consider your reinstatement complete until reinstatement has been verified via MyUM, the charge has been posted to your student account and all charges on your account have been paid. If you have any questions in reference to the reinstatement please contact SHC at 305-284-1652.
Domestic students with adequate alternative health insurance coverage may request cancellation of the insurance fee via MyUM. Students with limited out of area coverage or otherwise inadequate coverage are urged to carefully review their options before waiving the Student Health Service sponsored insurance plan. The waiver deadlines are July 25th for the Fall semester, Jan 25th for the Spring semester, April 25th for Summer 1 and June 25th for Summer 2. No waiver or refund will be granted after the deadline. Insurance cancellation requests must be renewed each academic year via MyUM.
All International students are required to enroll in the University sponsored health insurance program.
Web Checking Account (ACH) Payments: Free on-line checking account payments are now accepted through the MyUM system. Students must sign on to the MyUM system and select the 'My Student Menu' tab. The option of 'Billing and On-Line Payment' and subsequent on-line instructions will then be provided. Once payment is processed, a confirmation email will be sent to the student's email address noted in the University's database. The student's account will then be systematically updated with the payment. Please note that this option is only available on the MyUM system at no charge to the student.
On-Line Credit Card Payments: Please note that the University of Miami now accepts on-line credit card tuition payments. Students must sign on to the myUM system and select the 'My Student Menu' tab. The option of 'Billing and On-Line Payment' and subsequent on-line instructions will then be provided. Once payment is processed, a confirmation email will be sent to the student's email address noted in the University's database. The student's account will then be systematically updated with the payment. Please note that a non-refundable 2.5% convenience fee will be added to the amount charged by our credit card servicer.
